Trying to get into a spooky mood during the summer heat can feel impossible. Thankfully,

I have amazing bands like Twin Tribes and Spirit Halloween opening their doors to force the mood through the intense summer heat! Speaking of that motivation, I have a piece from my next work, a rough, unedited introduction concept. I hope you all enjoy!

In the mountain shadow of the Val d’Anniviers, where the old stone church had stood for three hundred years, and the wind carried prayers down the valley like smoke, nothing of consequence had ever happened. The church stood as a pinnacle at the center of town; its bell tower was the highest structure, piercing upwards through the series of wooden roofs as if it was reaching towards the mountain tops. From the tower you could see the fields on the outskirts of town, its owners’ thatched-roof houses nestled among the hills. Saint-Luce looked untouched by the witch trials consuming the Valais. Nestled among mountains and blue water, its church bell had called the faithful for three centuries, and for five quiet years Father Etienne believed God had finally led him somewhere untouched by mankind’s madness.
